Procedures - Reduction Mammaplasty, Breast Reduction

If your a woman with overly large breasts, you already know how uncomfortable it can be.  you already know how hard it is to find clothes that really fit.  You are already well aware that no bra affords enough support.  The ridges in your shoulders tell the story of constant discomfort and and the medical fact that this condition can cause neck and back problems.

Breast reduction surgery can be a tremendous life-enhancing option.  Having the procedure will give you far more than just smaller, firmer breasts.  You'll also get significant relief from many emotional and physical discomfort associated with this condition.

You will get a new sense of freedom in your exercise and physical activity, and the ability to wear a greater variety of clothing styles.  Of all the procedures that Dr. Peterson performs, breast reduction ranks among the highest in patient satisfaction.

Breast reduction, also called reduction mammaplasty, is a procedure that removes excess breast tissue and skin, making your breasts more proportional to the rest of your body.

After Dr.  Peterson has removed the excess breast tissue, fat and skin, the nipple and areola are shifted to a higher position.  The areola, which is usually larger than ideal is reduced in size.  Skin that was formally located above the nipple is brought down together to reshape the breast.

Liposuction may also be used to improve the contour especially on the side of the breasts.

The nipples and areola usually remain attached to their underlying tissue as they are moved to their higher position much like a button being moved to a higher button hole and this may allow for a preservation of the sensation as well as the ability to breast feed although it is not guaranteed.

The scars that result from the breast reduction surgery are permanent but will fade with time any remaining marks are worth the benefits gained from the physical and emotional freedom this procedure affords woman with this condition.
