HOW IS EYE LID SURGERY
PERFORMED?
Dr. Peterson will access the amount of excess fat and
skin in your eyelid areas, the position of your eye brows and
the condition of the muscles around your eyes. He may suggest
additional procedures to meet your appearance goals, that if
need be, can be performed in conjunction with eyelid
surgery.
For instance a sagging brow that can be smoothed and
tighten with a forehead lift, elimination of "crows feet" with
BOTOX,
a Chemical Peel or Laser
Resurfacing.
UPPER
EYE LIDS Typically, an incision is make within the natural crease
of the eyes inside corner and extends slightly beyond the
outside corner into the laugh lines.
Through this incision excess skin and fatty tissue are
removed. The incision line follows the natural contour
of the upper eye lid and is thus camouflaged when
healed.
LOWER
EYE LIDS The incision is concealed just below the lower
eyelashes. Through this incision, excess skin muscle and
fat are removed. Dr. Peterson may also make special
adjustments at this time. For example, the fat beneath
the eye cane redistributed to eliminate puffiness or bulges.
In some cases the underlying muscle will be
tightened.
RECOVERY After a period of monitored recovery you
may return home the same day. Within a short time, all traces
of the surgery will have disappeared and you will be very
pleased with your new refreshed and youthful appearance.
You may find that you feel more confident in business and
social situations. Friends and colleagues may tell you
that you "look great" appear happier or more rested. The
remark "where did you go on your vacation, I want to make
reservations today!" And, they may not even suspect that your
"destination" was Dr. Petersons office and that you have had
surgery at all!
